Women Networking at Henri Bendel's, Not So Much

Clip from WSJ about a women's networking event that included shopping at Henri Bendel's and champagne. Can't put my finger on what's wrong about it. Rampant consumerism? Reinforcing stereotypes?

I don't know, I think that would actually be kind of fun. There is something to be said for the fact that we like to shop, come on, you know you like it too, I've been shopping with you :-P

I think there's still something both Stepford-y (dare I say blonde?), not particularly socially responsible and crass about it.
